well folks. there we have it. sat down with mtv yesterday and they have the exclusive. how to engineer getting heard without playing the media game and using the internet as an instrument of ultimate destruction. hey, let’s be honest here, jokes on them!
bobby + nihal never called back (bonus points!). so what was the point? mtv will be posting it online but to sum things up: how’s that egg on your face feel? certain people who claim to support me simply pass on my music when there’s no indian elements present. so the message to any artist like myself is that to hate one’s own is the only way certain brown folks are gonna budge on not being over the top with the ravi shankar samples? to have even taken the 2 Minute Hate seriously and not question it, fuel only hate part and not really dig for the truth (it was out there and many got to it via this very blog) proves a mighty point. and it was that move which scored mtv the exclusive. any further discussion on this topic? sure, if it’s gonna score me some more time to talk about the album, i’m in. btw a new single got serviced this week that’s been crossing over in the States called Look At Me let’s see if it gets some burn. note, when i say “cross over” i refer to college and independent/satellite radio playlists. it addresses some of what just went down and more.
additionally, ddp got some better treatment from the label as a result of my antics. never a bad thing i guess. looking forward to hearing what they do with it now!
hey y’all, no tricks up the kid’s sleeves, just some music. to get heard, sometimes you just gotta do some dumb shit.
white lines.
don’t do it!
so let the brown on brown hate begin. i’m told that 2 weeks later, 2 point 9 is responding. sorry guys, i never really cared but i’m sure a response will make for great radio. hope you laugh your way through whatever you come up with as hard as we did on our end! shit was pretty fun! incidentally, the second emcee on the track is an artist named Nawfcyde. and no, i don’t think he really dislikes MIA or Rekah and whomever else he may have name dropped. you never know though.
he might just have to come out on his own with a sequel!
voting is over kids. in the end, very fun but kinda silly. mos def, an interesting read on a blog!
